Making the World Better with Books

I came across Better World Books when I was creating a class on Friends of the Library and looking for outlets for weeded materials.  You may already be dealing with them, but if not, read the CNN article and keep them in mind when you’re trying to figure out what to do with your unsold books after your next sale.  Heck, you can even start accepting those dreaded donated textbooks – they could become your biggest money maker.

The company will provide shipping supplies and pay for shipping and you’ll earn 15% of the net sale of your items.  Plus you can feel good that you’re indirectly helping charities like Books for Africa and the National Center for Family Literacy.  So far they’ve raised over 7 million dollars for literacy.

And better yet, anything they can’t sell, they recycle, so you’re being green and helping to create a better world.
